Braxton Berrios may be sidelined for the remainder of the NFL season, but his girlfriend, Alix Earle, is continuing to cheer him on.
“It’s crazy how things can change in a matter of seconds … especially seeing how much hard work you put into the game not only physically but mentally,” Earle, 23, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, October 21. “Day in and day out you inspire me and I have no doubt that you will be back and better in no time.”
She added: “Proud to be by your side and cheer you on. I love you❤️.”
Earle wrote her message alongside a repost of Berrios’ Monday Instagram upload. “Absolutely heartbroken. Due to an injury yesterday my season is over, the road ahead is measured in months and not days, but I find comfort in knowing I’ve been here before,” the Miami Dolphins wide receiver, 29, captioned a pic of himself on the football field.
“If you’re lucky like me, adversity has become a close friend. It means you’re chasing something not easily attainable and through all the failures and setbacks you’ve persevered. There’s pain along the way, but what’s on the other side makes it all worth it,” he continued. “Initially all I want to do is play victim and question everything, but I know God and I know he makes no mistakes. After the dust settles the choice each day is going to be pretty straightforward- have this be a part of my story or have it be the end of my story. Well like Kobe [Bryant] once said, ‘If you see me in a fight with a bear, pray for the bear.’”
Earle showed her support in the post’s comments, writing, “I love you❤️.”
Berrios suffered a severe knee injury during the Dolphins’ Sunday, October 20, game against the Indianapolis Colts. The athlete was placed on injured reserve by the team on Monday, per NBC Sports. (The Dolphins lost to the Colts with a score of 10-16.)
Earle has supported Berrios at several of his football games since the pair began dating last year. They made their red carpet debut at the 2023 ESPYs five months after they met at a Gatsby-themed party in Miami in February 2023.
Earlier this year, Berrios joined Earle for a trip to Wisconsin to visit her grandmother. “It’s been so fun here because my grandma has been dying all year to meet my boyfriend,” Earle gushed in a June 8 TikTok video. “She is just absolutely in love with him. It’s so funny because it’s almost a year ago that I kind of tried to soft launch Braxton on my TikTok when we went to the Hamptons.”
Ahead of Sunday’s Dolphins game, Earle and Berrios were at the team’s home field for one of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in Miami. “I’ve been teaching Braxton all the, like, Taylor lore,” Earle said while getting ready for the show in a Saturday, October 19, TikTok video. “We watched the 10-minute ‘All Too Well’ [short film] this past week.”
In a follow-up TikTok post, Earle said she and Berrios were “having so much fun just screaming to every song.” Noting that Folklore was Berrios’ “favorite era,” Earle said she “got really emotional looking around and seeing, like, dads that took their girls with them.”
