Country-pop newcomer Dasha made her mark at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. When the “Austin” singer gave an electric performance of her viral single on Thursday, November 28, in New York City, she reminded Us one of life’s great levelers: smudged lipstick.
In case you missed it, this year’s parade faced less than stellar weather conditions, leaving the star-studded lineup to brave the rain with a show-must-go-on spirit.
Despite the downpour, Dasha, 24, shimmied her way through her foot-tapping performance without missing a beat. However, her makeup was not as fortunate. When the singer’s mic got wet from the rain, her lipstick began to smear around her face. By the final chorus, there were red stains across her mouth and chin.
Viewers at home were quick to comment on the beauty faux pas via social media, as some found humor in the moment while others found it downright cringeworthy. Meanwhile, Dasha’s fans as well as her fellow country chart-topping peers chimed in with words of support.
“Happens to the best of us,” wrote country music sister duo Tigirlily Gold. “And she still slays,” added Ashley Kutcher. Another commenter quipped, “Christmas wishlist: waterproof red lipstick,” which prompted Dasha to hit ‘like’ before replying with the single-tear-eye emoji.

The singer also posted a TikTok video sharing her own reaction to the red lip gone wrong. “Today I learned a lesson about performing in the rain,” she wrote alongside a greenscreen video of her performance. Aptly set to the tune of “Just a Girl” by No Doubt, the clip shows the singer mouthing the word, “Why?’’ at the lamentable state of her lipstick.
To Dasha’s credit, she nailed the sexy Mrs. Claus look with her performance wardrobe, styled by Ali Mullin. It was impossible not to notice her as she line-danced around the stage in hot pants and a bustier top by Rev Denim.
Wrapped in a pristine white coat with fur trim and a red satin lining, Dasha more than delivered on the festive style vibes — smudged lipstick be damned.
