Married at First Sight’s Michelle can’t seem to get past one aspect of her husband, David.
In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Tuesday, December 3, episode of the Lifetime reality series, the couple sit down with two of the show’s experts to speak candidly about their living situation.
“I’m very close with my family but it’s not that ‘mama’s boy,’” David, 35, shares when explaining why he still lives with his parents. “I buy my own groceries. I give them rent. I paid off my car four months earlier. I’m still paying off student loans. Financially for me, I think I was making the right decision for myself at that time.”
Despite David stating that he can move out anytime given his financial “stability,” Michelle, 38, is having a hard time moving forward.

“I just don’t think it’s attractive,” she says. “I have worked my butt off and I wanted someone who was my equal or my counterpart. I just wasn’t expecting to be married to someone who lives at home.”
In previous episodes, David also discussed being inspired by his parent’s successful marriage and wanting to have a lasting union like theirs.
As two of the show’s experts — Pastor Calvin Roberson and Dr. Pia Holec — listen in on the upcoming episode, Michelle says she feels bad that she “keeps harping on it.”
“I don’t want to sit here and be like, ‘You live at home with your parents, gross.’ That’s not my intention,” she says while getting emotional. “I had higher expectations and I’m disappointed and I’m mad at myself for not verbalizing those.”
While holding back tears, Michelle adds, “I had high hopes for this marriage and it’s disappointing. That’s all.”
The candor raises the alarm for the experts, who quickly begin asking more questions to better understand the situation. As Dr. Pia asks, “Are you giving up already, because that’s what I’m hearing.”

The speed bump comes after viewers watched Michelle and David get married moments after meeting each other for the first time. As part of the Married at First Sight experiment, cameras will proceed to follow the pair for eight weeks as they experience the highs and lows of marriage.
On Decision Day — or the show’s season finale — Michelle and David will decide if they want to stay married or get a divorce.
